Three different cases studies

Kacy Paide - The Inspired Office - Professional Organizer

Challenge

Kacy does with glee what most of us hate: cleaning up messes and organizing things. Before I met Kacy, she was already doing a lot of her own home-videos on her different organizing principles and methods. As she was redoing her website she realized she wanted a homepage video that would organize her message just as she organized offices: clean, succinct, and inspired. How to take Kacy's already extensive home-video experience and up her ante?

Solution

She's someone who's had the seeds of her profession since childhood - she came to this naturally and she's got an innate gift for it. She's also quirky yet grounded, and I wanted to show that she's as fun as she is organized. We did something she'd never done before: a time-lapse video of a room being organized from start to finish as the perfect "before and after" evidence of her fantastic methods.

In their words

"I highly recommend local documentary filmmaker, Isabelle Carbonell who produced and filmed my 1min intro video on my homepage. Her work is gorgeous and has been an incredible asset to my business, giving me quite the impressive (and informative) "storefront” - I’ve worked with Isabelle on a number of other video projects since then and can’t get enough!"

Francesca Cervero - Francesca Cervero Yoga And Wellness - Professional Yoga Teacher

Challenge

Francesca is a big punch in a small package. With an easy smile and a bubbly laugh, she's also very serious and profound about what she does. She specializes in giving private yoga classes and has gotten so good at it, that she's now known for teaching other yoga teachers how to grow their private yoga clientele. But how to capture the contrasts in her personality - both beautifully warm yet incredibly determined - and how to explain both her occupations as a teacher and a teacher's teacher?

Solution

Though she's a natural at moving her body as she's been a dedicated ballet dancer since the age of 3, it was a grave accident which caused her professional - and spiritual - shift to yoga. This combination of contrasts created a powerful message and makes you want to seek her out as your personal teaching guru.

In their words

"Working with Isabelle was a total game changer for my business. The part of my new website that generates the most attention are the videos we made together. Everyone comments on how professional they are, and I love them because they so clearly show my personality and teaching style. Isabelle is so much more than a videographer. She is a director and an artist; her coaching and direction made me look like the best version of myself! And as a total bonus she super smart, funny, and a joy to be around."

Cassandra Metzger - Nilambu Yoga - Professional Yoga Teacher

Challenge

Previously a yoga-teacher and marathon-running lawyer for PBS, 14 years ago Cassandra came down with the devastating news that she had fibromyalgia - an incurable chronic disease which can be debilitating. She has learned how to live with this chronic disease however, and she's in the process of expanding her private yoga teaching business - Nilambu Yoga. We wrestled with how deep and dark to go into her health problems versus focusing on the present.

Solution

Address the past but don't dwell on it. We decided her vulnerability was a strength, and incredibly powerful in showing others what she's overcome.

In their words

"Isabelle understands storytelling and marketing - two invaluable skills. She knows the value of a hook, the value of brevity and the value of professionalism. On top of that she's a really good filmmaker. She is also really clever with an ability to play off a variety of ideas and concepts. And she was also super creative in coming up with moving images that worked with the narrative I wanted to tell. Most important of all for me is that she listens so well that I easily came to trust her. Putting myself out there when I wasn't my old self was really scary and really hard. Isabelle made it easy. She's a rare talent."
